Sometimes even faster. A TV bought today will be much cheaper come end of year, by then the new models are out.

It's a huge game of leapfrog in terms of quality and value.

Yes, not as dramatic as it has been in the last few months, but yes. Increasing TV's with 1080p will force competition. Manufacturing is becoming cheaper. 1080i will also benefit from 1080p's getting more popular. And other display technologies on the horizon will always push whatever is current off the pedestal.

Wasn't 2006 the year of HD before that? How about 2005? :)

2005 was the year of PC gaming, or sattilite, or illegal downloading.

meh, it's an incredible revolution. I've NEVER seen this much advancement in display technology in just the last 3 years. It's a great time to be a video nut.

Just look at the adoption rate, it's rivaling the almighty DVD.

The past 2 or 3 years have been noted as "the year of HD", as will next year. HDTVs will continue to decrease in price, no doubt, but at what pace is the question. I'm looking forward to when 40+ inch HDTV's become commonplace at $500 or less.
