I'm starting to think so more and more, especially after seeing this today.
If you look at the promotion period of this giveaway it ENDS February 28th, so that could mean GeforceFX cards, at least from MSI, COULD be out at or before that date.
This goes along with rumors of MSI and Leaktek being the first ones to get their cards out.
As far as price goes, if you look close at the box for that MSI ad, it says $450 suggested retail price.
I've been reading forums around the net today and a lot of people are thinking the FX 5800 ultra will retail for $449 instead of $499, with the non-ultra version being $349, so if that turns out to be true, online prices could be about $390-420 ultra and $290-320 non-ultra. I can't see Nvidia releasing ANY card for $499, who would spend that much? That's just too damn expensive, so is $449 though IMO, I personally hope the prices are even less than this, and who knows given the MAJOR price/performance competition from ATI, only time will tell.

Anyway, this is the first somewhat proof that I've seen that GeforceFX could be out in the Jan/Feb timeline rather than April as some say. I also read much speculation today that review cards are coming in January, earlier rather than later.
So IMO this ad shows that MSI is confident, EVEN as of 12/10 that they will have GeforceFX cards out by Feb/March at the latest, I mean the contest is from 12/10 to 2/28 after all.
Any thoughts?

"My sources say no..."

I must consult the video card gods to see when the FX will debuit, and if it will be faster than the 9700

I'm expecting reviews in late January and extremely limited availability within the second week of February, at least for the 'Ultra' rendition of the NV30.
It should hit respectable colume close to the very end of February, but we won't start to see wide availability until early March. It could also take until very late february/early March for the reg. NV30 to hit.

Depending on competitive sales of R300 vs. NV30 and how well it compares in sheer performance we may see the R350 launching in the last half of April.

Just my wild guesses.

I'd like to see ATI drop a bomb on Nvidia...Like the same day NV30 boards are released let out the RV350s by surprise.

I'd like to see that too. Or, what about releasing new Cat. drivers that unlock new potential for the R9700 PRO?

If NV30 doesn't blow away R300, I don't expect R350 to enter mass production. I just don't think it would be worth it for ATi.

What I find more funny is how ppl's opinions of VideoCard companies change to support the UnderDog. Same thing happened when nVidia took the lead from 3DFX, now ATi from nVidia.

Keep in mind ATi will soon have to transfer their process to .13 as nVidia has already got the hard part overwith. nVidia might be down now, but with the .13 process they can crank out high performance cards even quicker. And yes, I'm largely an nVidia fanboy :)

Actually in that respect I'd say nVidia goes against the trend, most people are still strongly anti-ATi, or anti-anyone but nVidia. Even many enthusiasts that should know better then to all into the trap of brand loyalty have gone that path.

Granted their are a significant number that support ATi simply because their the underdog, that number isnt nearly as high as one might expect.

Heh. Didn't you hear? ATi plans to release RV350 in Spring 2003 on the .13mu process. Not too far behind!

I'm actually rooting for both ATI and nVidia. We have to have at least 2 viable graphics companies to keep innovation going strong and have affordable prices. Long live ATI and nVidia!:)
