Will Geforce 4 ti 4400 be overkill for Athlon 1GHz?

I have an AMD Athlon 1GHz processor running on an ABIT KT7 with 512mb PC133. I currently run a Geforce 2 Ultra which is nice, but still doesn't cut it in latest games in a way I would like (although 40fps is considered acceptable I just don't enjoy playing games like this and love playing CS 'cos it runs 99fps all the time, I also hate turning graphics settings down to low). My question is this, would a Geforce 4 ti4400 be an overkill for this system or not?? Would say an Athlon XP 1900 with DDR 2100 and this Geforce 4 run games much better than mine with the same card or not?? Your help is appreciated because I am on the edge of getting this card but cannot afford a full upgrade at the moment. would you consider buying this card and then getting a thoroughbread in the autumn a good idea??

I doubt it would be overkill. You should be good to go. The extra CPU performance would help a bit, but the card itself would still be able to handle those high res games. :D

A gig is plenty to run the ti 4400, but it will help to aventually upgrade to an xp 1800 or more.
