Will G.Skill DDR2 800 work on ECS P4M900T-M?

Hello,

I picked up a E6420 & ECS P4M900T-M combo today at Frys. I plan to use the ECS motherboard until I can afford to get something better.
I have everything I need except for RAM as I was unsure of what to get.
I would like to invest in quality RAM that I can move to a good OCing board like the DS3 or an nVidia 680i based board when I get the money.

I looked up the specs of the ECS board on newegg and it says supports 1066FSB and DDR2 667 RAM. I would like to use this G.Skill HZ DDR2 800 RAM from newegg, but I don't know if it will work with my ECS board.

Does anyone know if it will work or not?

thanks much

I think it should work, it'll just run at 667 speeds (333mhz stock). I'm not completely sure though, I've never tried it myself.

yes it will work ... but check g skills web site to make sure there isnt some funky problem with your board

Just because ram says its 800 doesnt mean you have to run it at that speed. Also the ram doesnt decide what it runs at the motherboard/bios/user does that.

So yes it should work.

BTW i wish i had a damn frys in my area!

I don't know the answer, but I would be a bit concerned about the listed voltage of that ram 2.0-2.1V. A few of the ECS Mobos have no way to adjust ram voltage and I don't see the default shown at NE.

thanks everyone for the info..I'm not sure about what the voltages can be adjusted to 'cause the manual isn't very detailed, but by looking at the PDF Manual it looks like the memory voltages can be adjusted, but to what values I'm not sure.

I've never had to return anything to newegg so if I buy the G.Skill and it doesn't work will newegg allow me to exchange it or give me a refund?

Keep in mind that the 2.0-2.1v is specified for DDR2 800. I would expect it to be stable at the board's standard settings for DDR2 667.

thanks all..I couldn't wait so I bought locally a used 512MB stick of PC2 3200 for $10 to test with while I wait for my G.Skill to get here. Talk about some slooooow crappy ram..lol but at least it's still faster then the comp in my sig.

Edit: I emailed G.Skill's tech support and they replied back that the G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ that I ordered is 100% compatible with my ECS board.
I cant wait to get it..woohoo!
