Will Florida be the key state again in this election?

Will Florida play as a big a role in this election as it did last year? It seems like Florida could be the swing-state that tips the cards in favor of one candidate or the other. As it stands, Kerry looks to be leading Bush in the polls in Florida by a margin of 48% to 43% (according to Rasmussen).

There was a Presidential election last year? Where was I?
 
I live in Orlando. I have a Kerry for President sticker on my car. All but one of my neighbors were strongly pro-Bush in 2000, but only one of them has a sticker on his car. My new next door neighbor who just moved here from Texas and put little American flags in his flower beds (ugh) told me he wasn't voting for the first time EVER. He thinks Bush is a "monkey" (WTF?) and Kerry is too liberal. He opposes the war in Iraq.

Now that I have the Kerry sticker I've noticed a relative dearth of Bush stickers here. Four years ago this place was pumped full of Bush/Cheney stickers AND signs in the yards. What is going on is a definite lack of ENTHUSIASM for Bush here. Kerry is doing only slightly better in the bumper sticker wars-about 1.5 to 1.

Having said all of this, I think it is safe to say that Florida will go for Kerry, particularly in light of the 2000 debacle. For myself, I plan to vote at least 5 or 6 times for Kerry and will make sure all my Chads are having sex with Bruce and not hanging. 🙂

The key may be the state of NH. It was the only state in New England which went for Bush. If Gore had won there, FL would not have mattered. I think there is a better chance for Kerry than Gore this time around.
 
actually Ohio is the Key State. It is really on the fence and The mfg sectors have been hit hard in the northern are of the state.


The campaigns are spending more money in ohio than anywhere else.
 
Welcome to the Canadian centrist government. We've had it for 20 years.

Bush was elected on a moderate platform, then hired a bunch of right-wing ideologues for his cabinet. When 9/11 happened, of course he had to lean on the Righties for support, they actually have brains. This is going to turn off a great deal of the marginal voters who voted him in in the first place.

His only saving grace is that many feel he showed leadership after the bombings, so his core support will be strong. Which means that alot of the left & center vote has Kerry, and he is not an ideal candidate. Voting for the center always involves compromising your ideals a little. His victory will be dependent on getting his support out to the polls.

Many more feel that he settled the score from a ongoing blood fued.
We, the Public, have a very short attention span. so we need something
quick, like a Patriotic Pre-emptive strike.

America felt good about gettin' back, instant gratification.

But on the examination table looks very poor, indeed.
 
I agree with you, I was just giving my impressions of what some feel, without adding my own commentary.
 
The number of electoral votes notwithstanding, I bet we will see an unprecedented voter turnout in Florida, especially in minority areas. Kind of a groundswell backlash don't get fooled again sort of thing.
