Will faster memory work in my laptop?

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook N3010 laptop. 2.6GB P4, 512MB. The original specs say it will take PC2100 - 32x8 - 16 Chips 200pin SODIMM DDR Memory Non-ECC. Un-buffered( Non-Registered ). Non-Parity. Low Density modules. The total max RAM is supposed to be 1gb. Is there any benefit to using a newer, faster RAM module? PC2700 or faster? Is the speed that the board can use the RAM limited by the chipset? Trying to find out if there has been a BIOS update for this laptop is hard to beat out of Fujitsu.
I would like to stuff as much RAM as possible into this thing.

Go here and check out the options:

Crucial

What you can do depends on your BIOS as well as chipset. All laptops are different.

The fastest RAM you can use is limited by the chipset. Find out what chipset is in there (CPU-Z or Everest Home Edition should tell you) and look it up on Intel's website. It will tell you what type of RAM is supposrted.
