Will dual band cell-phone (samsung sch-t100) work in the US?

I am looking at this beautiful cell phone from samsung, sch-t100 and am planning to get this phone from Asia ..

This phone is a dual-band GSM phone with operating freq of GSM 900/1800

More review about this phone can be found here

anyway, I called voicestream and they say dual band phone will work. However, a friend of mine is pretty determined that dual band will NOT work. He says only try-band phones work.

So what is right ? Can I use this phone here in the US ?
What service provider should I get ? I've only talked to voicestream and att wireless so far. Voicestream said that they are able to give me service while att CAN'T provide any service for phones that aren't from att.

any input appreciated 🙂

Thanks !

It does not matter, 900 MHz and 1800 MHz are not allocated for mobile in the US. That phone won't pick up a signal in the US.
