Will doctor jobs be outsourced in the future?

When you go get a blood test or urine test, its usually an assistant/technicians that is tending to you. When you go get scanned such as CAT, MRI, X-rayed, its not the doctor who's doing it. Once done, they look at the test results and hem and they haw and then they tell you what you already know you needed to do, what you already knew you had and/or and tell you to take medication.

With video conference technology, you could have a doctor across the world look at you if they needed to actually see/talk to you.

:hmm:

I don't see why we can't do our own home rectal exam and just send the doctor the photos to examine

Home Depot does rent the tool to do it too. Heck, it will even remove a clog for you if you get the one with the roto rooter.

I'd be all for it if the quality of the doctor was the same as they are here. I don't want the cheap "knock-off" Harbor Freight Tools of doctors.

Yes and no. Things like surgery and ER medicine cannot be outsourced. There will probably always be a need for GPs as well. Or at least nurses to administer shots and take samples. Though I can see a lot of lab work being shipped elsewhere to be done in bulk.

People are already outsourcing medical needs as well, by travelling to other countries for cheaper fees or faster treatment. A lot of Canadians go to the US to get MRIs and day surgery, because the wait times up here can be horrendous. Of course, there's a big downside to that, like people going to Mexico for cheap plastic surgery.

It terms of remote medicine, it's going to be a hard time convincing people that Dr Sandhu Singh GP at the Delhi call centre is just as good as their GP back at home.
