Require a new power supply, or will the 300w AMD approved power supplies work?

Thanks,

And no, they will not, as long as you have an AMD-certified high-wattage PSU

The AthlonXP will probably (initially) consume much less power than the Athlon TBird (at a comparable clock speed).

Same motherboards... less power...

need a new powersupply? :)

you can probably answer it.

Ehhh, it will probably require less power but not a whole lot less. This will probably mean that they won't overclock tremendously as I think the AMD chips are reaching their MHZ limit (1800Mhz is my guess) on .18um. The .13um process should give new life to the Palomino core, much like it did to the PIII. The new Celerons are ample proof of that. The PIII was stuck at 1.0Ghz. It can now OC to 1.6Ghz. Imagine what a 1.53 chip moved to the .13um process will be able to do! I'm guessing somwhere in the neighborhood of 2.2+!:Q The Hammer will take over from there. Yeah it's a server based chip, but AMD will push it for the desktop too no doubt. It will be the fastest X86 chip on the planet so why not let it chomp on the 32-bit apps that rule the desktop arena.

You'd have to click on the thread to reply to the question anyway. Long titles are annoying anyway.
