This is a plea to Gary Key- the all knowing Anandtech editor.
You guys at anandtech usully have the inside scoop as to whats going on in the tech world that none of us seem to be able to find out.
Will you please let us know what the hell is going on with conroe. Specifically the E6600 and up. Why all the promise of shipping dates and then.....nothing?

Dude relax, your p0rn will still run on your current rig for another few days.

I don't know if anyone else has seen this yet, but Newegg has posted revised prices, and they now list the 6700 and 6600, though they're listed as out of stock. They're all overpriced ($300 for the 6400? Er, no thanks), but I wouldn't call it "gouging" anymore... just more expensive than at any other e-tailer I've seen, which isn't terribly surprising.

Just spoke to a Micheal at the Winbook Corp. he said they have all conroes in stock. They are all OEM's. You must order over the phone but the web site is http://www.winbook.com/ad_dest/pricewatch.html Hope this helps anyone still trying to get a 6600 or a 6700. I personally have never ordered from this company and can not vouch for their reliabailty.

I just talked to Michael at Winbook as well, via the number on that page. After he reassured me that the Conroes were in stock ("Physically in stock? As in, you guys have them actually sitting around somewhere? Not, say, philsophically in stock or in stock on a freighter somewhere in the Pacific?" "Yes."), I ordered a E6600. $360 isn't such a bad price (see Newegg). There's a suspicious "3 day lead time" to shipping, so I'm not sure if I'll actually get it soon, but we'll see how it goes. Other avenues don't seem exceptionally promising and I would like to build this thing before I leave town.
