hi im mostly a fps person but since i moved into an apartment on campus with crappy internet ive been forced to play lan games with my roomates.

ive been playing starcraft, warcraft3 and cs 1.6. we all have laptops 1 with a 7400 me with 6100 and 1 with gma950. my friend with a dell is the limited factor in the fun equation so i was wondering if company of heroes can run playable at all on his computer. and suggest any other fun lan games.

orginal unreal i still play today ! i don't play UT2003 or UT2004. For some reason i find the Orginal UT graphic and maps to be more awesome than UT2004.

CoH is regarded as one of the best looking and most graphically intense RTS games you can buy right now. given that even alot of dedicated graphics cards struggle with it and have to have details/resolution turned down, its a safe bet to assume the GMA950 hasnt got a hope in hell even at the bare minimum.

if you want some RTS action, i would thin Red Alert 2 would work just fine, yeah its old, but its a ****** blast to play over LAN

theres also that DEFCON game, thats a cool retro-look RTS

RA2 costs like less than $10, and is not hard to make work on many machines if you know what I mean

I beg to differ. It actually works on the bare minimum. I tried it just for fun to see if it could run on my laptop (Yonah 1.6Ghz, 1GB Ram, GMA950) and it did... well, more like walk. With everything on low it got hella choppy on heavy stuff and barely playable once stuff started to hit the field. Then again, I only tried the demo, never got to try retail with patches to see if it was any better(Though I wouldn't expect any miracles). But it works, if you can call it that.

So no, I wouldn't exactly recommend you playing it, but it does work.

In addition to low details/texture, no AA or AF, give it a chance by using the lowest resolution the laptop will support: 640x480 or 800x600. This will still provide acceptable picture quality on a small screen.
