Will coachella be worth the $2000 to go this year?

The list of performers made me faint for a moment and I didn't want to think about the price.

I know I won't get the intimate nature of some of my neighborhood joints (9:30 club, etc) but the experience sounds awesome.

Anyone have any experiences to share leading to this morning's sale?

Signed,

east coast idiot

I've been to Coachella a few times, but not for many years now. It was pretty awesome every time I went, though. I was an LA resident back then so it wasn't much trouble to make it. I don't think I would ever travel that far just to attend unless it was an event bundled into a much larger vacation plan.

EDIT: just looked at the line up. Hadn't seen it yet. It's pretty good but doesn't really thrill me. I attended the very first Coachella and got to see RATM directly followed by Tool on the main stage. The headliners this year kinda leave me meh.

i went to the one with radiohead, cure, the pixies, flaming lips, beck, kraftwerk.... we flew in from jersey to san diego, drove to palm springs, stayed in a hotel then went to saturday. camped on sat night, left sunday after the show to san diego where we stayed for 2 nights, then flew back. was a killer trip.

it was worth every penny. looking at this lineup, i don't think i would spend the money.

What makes me sad is that I live 30 minutes from Bonnaroo and have never been. I know that has nothing to do with Coachella but still.

Its 3 days and numerous groups, you have no clue what your talking about or you just don't love music

also its only $269 a ticket which is more then fair for what you get

woah. lurk much? Or... post count error from VB transition?
😛

I wouldn't mind going to any musical festival. At this point though, while affording a festival wouldn't be an issue, getting friends who would agree to the expense just hasn't happened. Bonnaroo is somewhat close, but still cannot get friends to go. But people requesting time off, figuring a way to deal with the dirty hippies and camping out or whatever... so far, not yet. Some time...

Will be going this year and camping with some friends so we will be saving tons of cash that way. Really excited about seeing the Gorillaz.

I had like 4000 posts on the old forums, so I assume it was an error of some kind. Honestly I thought it did that on purpose until I saw how many everyone else had. Doubt anything can be done about it now

EDIT: So I guess I had over 5000, mods fixed it quick

MUCH better lineup than last year though, just not worth the $/heat/stress
