The problem with Citi is that they kept acquiring these shit assets and shit companies and weakening the company. NO clue what they were thinking. I mean, it's a gamble. In 5 years it may look genius, but not if the company tanks before then.

yeah, i hope WB learned their lesson with the stupid Golden West/The money store purchase.

Over a billion shares of Citi traded today! :Q

I didn't buy the lottery ticket today but Monday I'm going to buy some if I can get it near today's close.

i think citi is in a better position than wamu. so i'd buy some at $2~$3 and sell 1/2 at $5... profit....

would be epic if wells fargo offers to buy citi for $1 a share.

Citi is too big and too complex to just merge with some other company, I suspect it will get carved up into little pieces and sold off that way. No need to make a run though.....

Is being carved up into little pieces a good thing for stocks?

Citibank canceled my Platinum card due to inactivity a few weeks ago, so it's kinda hard for me to care either way.

On the other hand, I have a co worker who has a few thousand shares of C's stock, so he might care a bit more than I do :)

citi is the epitome of too big to fail. If city goes under, fuck buying gold or bond or w/e, its time to start buying land.

Federal regulators were considering a new rescue for Citigroup on Sunday, a step that could mark a third leg of the government?s broader efforts to bolster the nation?s financial industry, according to people briefed on the plan.

Under the proposal, the government would shoulder losses at Citigroup if those losses exceeded certain levels, according to these people, who spoke on the condition that they not be identified because the plan was still under discussion.

If the government should have to take on the bigger losses, it would receive a stake in Citigroup. The banking giant has been brought to its knees by gaping losses on mortgage-related investments.

If approved, the plan could serve as a model for other banks, heralding another shift in the government?s morphing financial rescue. The Treasury Department initially proposed buying troubled assets from banks but then reversed course and began injecting capital directly into financial institutions.

I'm buying when it's below $2.50.

See where we're going with this? :)

I hope Citi goes belly up for "upgrading" my 5% cash advance card a few years back to the POS it currently is. Once I accumulate enough for another cash back check from them I'm done with that card.

wow such anger for such a small thing! :p
NEVER CROSS ME

Citi is now endorsed by Skoorb for DESTRUCTION!!!

Mwahahaah!

Nope, they should be ok. Just fear in the sector in conjunction with Citi's bad management.
