Not sure having the budget airline airport named after you is much of an honor..

But replacing the globally known O'Hare name would be a disgrace. Plus, Obama's home is closer to Midway than it is to O'Hare; might as well name the airport that is closer to Obama's home.

I'd be for renaming MIdway if for no other reason than to annoy scores of boomers that will have to now fly in/out of Obama International Airport.

Maybe rename Reagan Airport to Obama Airport, since the latter was much more popular in Washington DC.

For Obama an major airport and an aircraft carrier with his name slapped on it would do just fine.

For Trump? Well, he deserves to have a parking lot in Moscow named after him and have a rubber "donny ducky" by hasbro made up to match the flower emblazoned clown car he rolled out of when he won the Repub nomination.

As a UK resident, I've never even heard of Midway Airport- though I have heard of O'Hare. Obama deserves something more prominent. Rename LAX or something, right now it sounds like an anti-constipation medication (and isn't named after a war hero).

I am glad you don't have one of those......
Yes I do, at this point in time, I don't think he deserves renaming anything after him. BTW, IIRC a lot of those places named/renamed after someone, that person most of the time is already dead.
Unless it their own Presidential Library, which Obama will have probably by 2021.

O'hare -> O'bama. Done and done.
How about
O'hare
b

m

And just stylize it like that?

Presidents usually get the main airport in a city named after them, not secondary ones.
JFK, Reagan, Bush, etc.
Also, having two airports in a city start with O would be confusing.
So I am guessing either he gets O'hare renamed after him, or he'll get Honolulu named after him, but I doubt he wants Midway.
I doubt Obama "wants" it regardless. I'm sure he'd be honored, but unlike Trump Obama has never been a narcissistic jackass that needs his name on everything.

And it will ALWAYS be Sears Tower, Comiskey Park, Marshall Fields, no matter who owns it or renames it.
Tell that to the Anaheim Angels. Oh that's right they are the LA Angels, except the park is still in Anaheim.

I resemble that remark.

Although there is probably someone who refers to it as "Glorious Saint Reagan the Devine Conservative Leader National (but not socialist) Airport"
I grew up watching DC 8's and Lockheed Constellations taking off from National Airport when I was a kid. It will never be Reagan National to me.

It's been called Midway since 1949, not sure why they would change and "honor" this lame duck former president by renaming it.
Chicago residents should have their say on this via election and not by "paid" public servants who have their own personal agenda.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midway_International_Airport

You should tell that to the 104th Congress or whatever it was, that thought its only relevant job during their 2 year term was to waste the country's time by pushing bill after bill to rename every fucking thing in this country after that treasonous dickscarf, Ronny Ray-Gun.

It appears there is a push to rename Midway Airport after Obama.

Does anyone see this happening? I find it more likely than renaming O'Hare, since the O'Hare name is just too world famous across the globe to be renamed, and would probably face a lot of controversy and backlash as did the renaming of the Sears Tower to the Willis Tower. Plus, Midway is located closer to Obama's home.

I wonder though if it will be named exclusively after Obama, or if it will be a dual-named airport. Perhaps it could be called Chicago Obama-Midway Airport.

For the same reasons and more National never should have be renamed after St. Ronnie.

But I'm not in favor of this-no way they should name a second tier airport after Obama. Renaming Honolulu would be much more appropriate. And it shouldn't bother the GOP, for as Atty General Sessions says Hawaii is just some island in the Pacific.

Since we are wanting to rename things, I thought were could rename a few mosques after Obama. Maybe Iran could rename some of their currency after him as well.

I would be offended if they renamed Midway after me. That place is far too shitty to be associated with anything except Southwest.

Midway and the surrounding area represents the failures of Chicago politics. Perfect airport to be named after Obama.
