Will Channel 2 go back to being channel 2?

Currently, on my LCD TV without a cable box, the HD/digital version of channel 2 (CBS) is on channel 2-1. The SD version is still on channel 2 (this applies to all the broadcast channels).

When they switchover/off finally happens in June, will the HD/digital version of channel 2 (currently 2-1) go back to being on simply channel 2?

Nope. Channel "2" as you see it is VHF Channel 2. Channel "2-1" might be on UHF 40 for all we know, it's ATSC Channel 2.1.

It will be channel 2.1, digital has the luxury of sub channels. I guess you could set it to read 2 only, or the station might display it as 2 using psip.

On my TV, it is not 2.1; it is 2-1. I assume there is not much of a difference?

Can psip cause it to display as "2", but I still will have to enter "2-1"?

PSIP won't do "2." If they're broadcasting channel 2 on UHF channel 40, PSIP can turn it into 2.1. The nature of DTV means you'll be dealing with subchannels FOREVA. I think.

At least it's not channel 118-110 like NBC-HD is from Comcast in my area. I have to press 8 buttons to change to NBC-HD!

Our were like that until about 6-9 months ago.

I agree, I guess I have it as good as it can get without being perfect.

That is to deter you from using anything BUT one of their leased cable boxes. An internal QAM tuner is worthless with the way Comcast changes channel mappings and/or has them mapped in no logical sequence.
