Skylake/Kaby Lake tablets (pretty much just the Surface Pro 4 if I'm honest) were slightly handicapped by the lack of LPDDR4 relative to the competition like the iPad Pro. Will Cannonlake support LPDDR4 or will we have to wait for the next chip?

I'd sure like to see the usage scenarios in which these products compete with each other and the LPDDR4 gives a performance advantage. The picture will surely get even muddier once you consider the Core i7 in SP4 comes with eDRAM cache, bringing quite a change in effective memory bandwidth.

However, I'm also curious about the time frame for Intel's transition to LPDDR4.

Cannon Lake is believed to only support DDR4 in general, so I would hope it supports LPDDR4.
