There is a new development team, and an actual date this time. Maybe it won't happen, but I actually believe it will be released for the first time ever. There are plenty of videos of people playing it at some convention last year (Maybe E3, or PAX?).

Since 3D Realms is out of the picture, I have much more faith that it will be done, although less faith that the quality will be very good.

I dont believe DNF is coming out in March, if anything closer to next year. While BD is 2 or 3 months away...

yeah, for comparison BD is at most 18 months later than the original, VERY optimistic projections that AMD had. Duke Nukem Forever is about 156 months late and counting.

No. 3D realms kept developing it for years, under the auspice of "It will be done when it is done" - or at least they have been saying that since 2001. Gearbox took over and stopped updating the engine to make sure it looks better than all other games, and stopped increasing scope to make sure it has all new gamplay features. Honestly, all they did was cap off what was already done and try to polish it.

It will still mostly be the game 3D Realms originally made it seems, but I have my doubts to the level of polish it will have. Even so, it is set for release in the US on May 3rd, with worldwide release on May 6th. (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...ve-duke-nukem-forever-has-a-release-date.aspx)

I never believed it would be done before, but I didn't follow the development of it either. I was in college when it started production, and I didn't have time to pay attention to stuff like that then. I finally expect it to be released in May though. If only because it isn't up the 3D Realms anymore to release it. (at the same time, the trailers I have seen show it as pretty unpolished.)

Also Bulldozer's launch date is at E3 (June 7-9) according to a leaked slide. But it's Q2 officially so they'll definitely stick to that.

BOTH the DNF release date and the BD release date have been widely publicised, so are the people saying 'never' or 'second half of this year' joking?

It looks ok, ofcourse it was built on a now 4 or 5 year old engine so... happening to be the Unreal engine which I can't stand.

3D Realms is out of the picture. Gearbox's team is Duke 3D's old devs. It's coming out.

I'm almost ready to jump the Bulldozer train. Last I knew the release was going to be April or May, which was quite a while ago anyhow. If Intel gets a 6 core Sandy out in the next few months, I'm there.

I know it's hard to believe for those of us that are old enough to remember the magazines first announcing the game (1997 >_<) but it is actually coming out this time

the big difference between now and previous times is before they'd only ever put out thumbnail screenshots or cinematic trailers or I think once an ingame footage presentation (not hands on)

this time not only has it been hands on but members of the press have had *hours* to sit down and play the full game as they wish and report they're experiences...it's really really done and will be out in the next few months...like has been stated about 3d realms may have dragged this out till they died but gearbox seems to just want to get it out the door :p

I for one can't wait for the second zero punctuation review of duke nukem :p (if you haven't seen the first go watch it now it's hilarious)

I'd be excited if it was still 1996 and I was playing Duke3D at a LAN party because gaming on the internet using DOS + Kali over dial up sucked.

BNC LAN cards, lol. "Hey, who has the BNC terminating resistor?"

When most people's internet connections have higher throughput than LAN connections when the previous game was out, you know you missed the window on your followup release.

It's being released on May 3rd, there are no questions as to if it's going to actually come out this time; it IS coming out for sure.

I read a article on DNF. You are supposed to be able to do a bunch of non-scripted stuff like just hang out and weight lift and stuff like that. (Awesome by the way.)

I hope they upgraded so where as I may get 10 points of life by urinating (like back in the day) you can now take a dump and get 20 points of life back plus get a med-pack if you wash your hands afterward!

My prediction: DNF releases but is total crap and never lives up to expectation or the hype.
