Current stats are

Battlefield 3 preorders, saying 1.5 million have reserved their copies of the upcoming military shooter sequel.

Then you take into account people that buy it when it comes out,, it might go to 4 million and break COD record.

Ive never played BF2 , How is it ? Is there leaning like modern warefare or MOH. thx gg and gb

Not a chance, it won't even get close. Maybe if you only count physical retail sales it has a shot but the game won't even be available on Steam which I'm willing to bet accounted for more than 50% of Black Ops (pc) sales. That being said, I've preordered it even though I prefer infantry focused gameplay (such as COD-like games) to the vehicle-centric style of the BF games.

On the PC it might outsell CoD, but not on the consoles.

This is the right of it. I think it stands a chance to outsell CoD on PC this time round, there is a ton of buzz on BF3 and PC gamers are starting to sound tired of playing CoD 4 over and over.

But console gamers will lap up whatever is the latest Call of Duty reskin or DLC that Activision has squatted over them to excrete.

Why does anyone even care about this? Do you somehow feel justified in wanting a game because many other people also want said game?

Black Ops had double that in pre-orders and it is expected MW3 will have more.

I was a long time BF fan but I prefer the faster pace of CoD, as do the majority of competitive players.

haha, i call BF a turd and I get flamed to hell. you call CoD a turd, in round about way, and no one says a thing. hypocrisy on the forums at its best.

Battlefield 3 isn't dumbed down enough for CoD fans

What do you consider "dumbed down"? The fact that you can actually kill someone with bullets? The biggest problem I have with BF is the # of bullets I have to put into someone.

so I guess bf is dumbed down compared to arma?

Of course it will be and for good reason, ARMA was too realistic for the average person to play. Sure some realism is fun but making a game too realistic means balance sucks, and the whole game suffers.

I doubt it has much to do with game complexity. Like I said in my previous post I enjoy infantry focused gameplay. I don't really want to pilot jets, helicopters, or operate tanks. I just don't enjoy that, if that's what I wanted to do I'd be playing a flight (or other) simulator game which I'm sure would be more complex in that aspect than BF3 will be. The problem (for me, I understand other's opinions will vary) with all vehicle-centric games is they end up being dominated by people who excel in the vehicles, and that's fine, that goes along with those games. I just prefer the human to human combat.

agreed, and not only that, in my experience, trying to get a vehicle, even a jeep just to get a ride, is next to impossible. everyone rushes for the vehicles to get to combat and they either waste the vehicle because they don't know how to use it, don't share it, tk for it, or if you don't get a vehicle, you're going to die instantly.
