Both cards should work just fine. Did you forget to plug in the power cable on the back of the 6600GT?

What excatly do you mean "it won't work" with your 6600GT? is it too slow? Try lower settings and see what happens. Turn off AA and AF especially, in both the drivers, and the game.

My 6600GT runs it fine, but of course I have PCI-Express. But I don't think it makes THAT much of a difference. I can run it at all high settings with no aa or af at 1280x960. You should be able to get it at all medium settings at the same resolution with your agp card.

It gets to the splash screen and then it freezes. I then have to completely restart the computer. I have tried everything under the sun to resolve this issue and I can not get the game to work with the Chaintech 6600GT.

Probably do to BF2's numerous bugs... they seem to pop up randomly all over the place... I can't get it to work on one of my buddies system but works on mine which is completely identical except for the ram and hard drive sizes :(

Why do people think PCI-Express makes the card work faster? Having a faster bus only means the data will physically get to its destination faster, because it can transfer more at once. This doesn't affect how fast the data is able to come out of the card. Plus, today's graphics cards aren't even saturating the AGP8x bus, so really having PCI-Express isn't relieving any kind of bottleneck.

With some of the 6600GT's, not all.

What makes you think it is the videocard's fault? Have you elminated all other possiblities such as soundcard, drivers, game instalation and such?

That is just not true.

Ive been to LANs with tons of 6600GTs running BF2, and never heard of issues.

There is no reason a 6600GT would have problems with the game and the other 6000 series cards wouldnt.

I have done everything. I have used the most recent drivers(sound, motherboard, video, direct x and etc.), re-loaded the game at least 3 times, even re-loaded the O.S. twice.

I then started to test my hardware. I moved around the ram to different open slots, in every possible combination, still no luck. I even swaped out the PSU-no luck. Finally, I removed the 6600GT from my system and tested it in another machine. I loaded the game and it still did not work. This leads me to my conclusion that it must be my 6600GT that can not run the game.

I believe it should be able to work with both of those video cards. Perhaps for the 6600GT it might've been a driver problem or maybe the card was bad to begin with.

that doesn't make sense.... maybe you have bad card???
or try reconfig your video setting in BF2?

The card wasn't bad. I could play any game except this one. I also could not reconfig the video settings because the game wouldn't let me get that far. It would freeze at the BF2 splash screen and I would have to restart my system.

If my 6600 256 mb agp can run BF2 @ 1024x768 on high settings. I'm sure the 6800LE can do it with flying colours !

Maybe you have a bad GAME CD,
just my idea.

The CD isn't bad. It works with my new 6800LE. I had to replace the 6600GT all because of this stupid game. EA had way too many bugs with this game. Thanks for the input!:)
