Will bent fin affect performance?

Opened Fed Ex box and one fin at top had a slight bend in it. The bend occurs at the end of the fin and causes it to touch the fin next to it. Other than this small prob the heatsink looks fine. Will this hurt the capabilities of the heatsink at all? Asthetically I could care less, but don't want any performance issue. Thanks

I doubt it. At least from a Heat transport point of view, that slight difference will do nothing. If if makes you feel better, you can try to bend it back.

Agreed. Should be just fine. The XP-90 kicks enough ass that even if the performance did take a hit, you'd still have lots of cooling to spare. 😀

Take a pair of needle nose and unbend it. Probably wont affect performance at all, unless it becomes a dust catcher.

^What he said.

Remember, a heatsink is just a chunk of metal. It's not like there's anything overly special or delicate about them. Just make sure they're lapped and have good contact with their chip, and you're fine.

Base isn't warped - checked it out closely - just the one fin was a bit bent. Didn't think it would be a prob but good to get confirmation. thanks for the replies.
