Will AT&T let you choose your cell phone number?

Anyone know if AT&T will allow you to choose your own cell phone number, or at least give you a bunch of possible available numbers when you buy a phone, and allow you to choose one? It's been a long time since I got a cell phone LOL. It would be nice to choose my own or at least pick from a few different options. I would consider this even if there was a charge.

from my experience...no. But I heard people were able to pick numbers from a list, and those people that are able to pick usually bring stuff in for them, like a pizza pie...

Maybe if you go to the official AT&T store but in my experience you can choose =)
