Will AS5 improve my video card temps ?

Does applying Artic Silver 5 to my video card could improve temps? What can I expect?
Is the 6800 GS HSF easy to remove?

Thanks 😀

Is the HSF for the vid card properly mounted right now? If so, you won't get a large decrease in temps.

Not sure...it idles at 42C ... load is 56C

How much of a difference are you expecting? The difference made by top notch heat compounds and cheap stuff is minute.

The tempetures look decent. As Bob stated, the AS5 isn't going to improve much. If you want a lower load tempeture, then buy an aftermarket heatsink.

I've been checking up on this for you.

A guide to how it works, temperature difference was a stunning 1 degree C at load! 😀

While some people do think that sort of improvement is worth it i'm afraid i'm not one of them. If you were to swap it out for another heatsink then you might get better temps though.

Thanks for the info. Not worth it for me either (stress/risk) 😀
