You know, in Warcraft III the perspective and the smalll individual polys of the characters really doesn't look alll that different with anisotropic filtering enabled from when it is disabled. It is something like AA that has a more noticible difference in image quality, but even then it doesn't make as big of a difference as it does in other games for the same reason as before (with an FPS you will see measurable difference with them enabled).

Just try it, some people notice ansio more than others.

I've been playing WC3 often lately on a GF3, and I've noticed no noticeable improvements with aniso for WC3. As a result I don't play with it for speed purposes. Then again, a majority of games I play also don't have aniso turned on either. Performance hit just isn't worth it for me, however I do have 4xAA turned on. My gaming situation dictates that I prefer AA on, aniso off, for a blend of quality and speed. I run on a 22" and speed wise, its best for me to run games at 1024x768. Of course at that low of a resolution AA makes a world of difference as compared to aniso.
