Will an SATA I work on an SATAII HD?

Forgive my ignorance with this lol, I do not have much experenice with SATA I finally decided to take the plunge and upgrade to SATA. I got a Western Digital SataII 16MB cache drive, it is OEM and I am pretty sure it will not include the cable. When I purchased my DFI Ultra D refurbished it didn't include any cables, but I have a SATAI cable from another system build I did for someone and was wondering if that would work.

Thanks in advance

It's my understanding that SATA2 drives will work with SATA1 controllers, but you're going to be limited to SATA1 speeds. I'm pretty sure the cables are the same, just make sure the refurbished motherboard has a controller that supports 3.0 GB/s

Thank you for the replies, glade to hear it will work 😀

According to DFI the board supporrs SATA 2:

Serial ATA with RAID
# Four Serial ATA ports
# SATA speed up to 3Gb/s
# RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 0+1
# NVIDIA RAID allows RAID arrays spanning across Serial ATA and Parallel ATA

Nforce Ultra 4 chipset
