Short answer no.

Long answer some AM3 boards actually support AM3+ processors but not many do, you'll need to look up the CPU support list for your motherboard to know for sure.

It may, but I would suggest against it. It's definitely not officially supported, so you may not be able to find a BIOS that will work. Also, AM3+ CPUs require more strict electrical requirements from the mobo to support the more advanced turbo boost that Bulldozer introduced.

What model is your motherboard? The only way to know for sure is to check the manufacturer's website for the compatibility list.

Really? I bought this board because it was supposed to be upgradable to BD (back when the X6 was first released) and then that (I thought) turned out to be false.

AFAIK, it only supports up to X6.
