Will an Alpha PAL8045 fit an A7N8X Deluxe?

I remember seeing somewhere (I think it was here on the forums) that the PAL8045 will fit the A7N8X Deluxe, but I just wanted to double check before I buy the board. Anyone have any experience using this HSF on this board? Is it a tight fit? Does it rub against any caps?

Thanks.

It will fit, I'm using this combination. However you have to put the cpu into the socket before you can put the nuts into the motherboard. The socket lever to lock and release the cpu is blocked if you place the nuts in. So you have to install your cpu in the socket first. lock it in place then begin to install your heatsink by putting the screws and nuts through the motherboard.

don't suppose anybody knows the slowest fan (in terms of cfm) you can get away on top of an Alpha 8045 to cool a non-overclocked XP 2400+ ? Would like to use one of the really quiet Pabst or YS-Tech ones - 20dB or so but only 27cfm

That would probably do the trick. I have a Panaflo L1a cooling my overclocked tbird. Case fans are more important than the fan on your 8045. Just make sure you mount the fan to SUCK not BLOW on the heatsink.

Yah a panaflo should be fine as long as you have good case exhaust and you are running stock speeds. Suck vs. blow has been debated a lot with the 8045, I've found either combo to work the same. No noticeable difference in temps. I set it up now depending on airflow in/out of the case.

As for the socket lever, yah that is annoying 🙁 There's a pretty easy way around it though. Use your finger to give gentle upward pressure, then use a pair of needle nosed plyers to tug the lever away from the socket in the middle of the lever. It'll give just enough to pop the lever without having to remove the standoffs. Also, a nice change from my 8KHA+ is that you can access each of the standoffs with a pair of angled pliers. For me its a great time saver, as I always had to hold the bolts in the back with angled pliers while unscrewing the heatsink from the front. I had to take the standoffs out each time, which really sucked 🙁

thanks, shall do

Am getting a Coolermaster 210, so only two case fans - I guess one should blow and one should suck. Shall probably replace the standard ones with two more quiet 27cfm, 20dB ones.

Any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated - I haven't built a system for a while, and this amount of heat is all new to me.
