Hi Guys,

Actually I was trying to get rid of ddr3 pc3-8500 RAM stick, so one guy asks me if his notebook Asus X53U-SX067D with AMD Brazos C50 processor support this RAM. I checked out specs for it, its only mentioned DDR3-1066, DDR3L-1066. But I see no reason why it shouldn't ? After all its ddr3 and voltages are pretty much same.

What you guys think, should I take the risk and ship him with money back guarantee on return if not compatible ?

Regards,

officially supported: no, 1066 is fastest officially supported by ontario
unofficially supported: depends on bios (ie: overclocking)

Now this don't mean the memory module won't work, it'll just run at the bios default which would likely be 1066 with conservative latencies.
Also i'm assuming your c50 laptop is cheap/basic (like my c50 laptop), which has no memory/overclocking settings in the bios (also my other asus Eee netbook has no memory settings either). Mine just defaults the faster mem to 1066 without a chance to allow changing it.
Also the low voltage stuff may or may not be set to the lower voltage, again depending on the bios (chances are it'll be ignored and set to a bios default on cheap laptops).

Sorry guys, its a useless thread..i just realized DDR3 1066 = PC3 8500
All this time I was confusing it with similar sounding 10600 (ie. pc3 10600, 1333mhz one)

@SiliconWars: I'm not that big of a n00b :p we are talking laptops and sodimm only :)

although ironically my response above does puts me in n00by light :O :D
