I tried all the tips for a good hour (Senns) and could never get it perfect without ramming them in. I considered complys but then when I looked at the headphones I saw the "wax" line (ewww) reached up the plastic housing! Meaning I jammed them way way in there and can't imagine just tips fixing that issue. my way said they fit fantastically for her. I googled and there's a known ear malformation that prevents some IEMS from "gripping" right. the apples "hook" in more vertically than horizontally if that makes sense? at least the knock offs, haven't received the real deals yet. I'm going to try the sound core liberties too for shits and giggles, for when i'm taking out the trash and don't want to lose $200 headphones

ahhh that's too bad. I was hoping that could help. Yeah the airpods are a different design for sure.

IEM's blow me away and I've been using them for close to 20 years now, I think my first pair was a Westone UM1 then I got the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 pro. Sold those and have some Meze and DUNU IEM's now. Plus the Senn MTW2. Still when I listen to some of these buds I am like how the hell are these tiny things making such amazing sound in my head.

NIce! I'm a headphone junky but previously stuck to the bang for buck category, but christmas changed that after I reallly enjoyed my sony xm4's (overhead). Not audiophile but still a noticeable jump from spending $50.

I've been enjoying the experimenting.
With IEM TWS I've tried:
1. Cheapie aukey - kinda not bad and the fit works, but sounds kinda processed and.. fake.. hard to explain
2. Edifiers (non noise canceling cheapies)- actually really like them, shocking that they included EQ and firmware updating via app for the $30 i spent. they fit fine but like a lot of the chinese headphones i've been hearing they sounded processed and.. digital? Fine for most music but soundtracks/instrumentals just sounded busy. I notice that on a lot of soundbars too, it's not noise just feels a hint digital (it's not compression artifacts, I hear it on lossless tracks too)
3. Master and Dynamic Mw07- I was really impressed with them and the fit OK (not perfect) but one side kept on losing connection. I tried these before the momentum 2s, which were shockingly good and made the MD sound closer to the $100 market
4. Sen Momentum 2 - fantastic sound if I could get over the fit.
5. Bose soundsports - these I don't understand at all. I couldn't even walk with them, but I don''t think a seal is the intent, and they just sorta hand there and spit sound into your ears? I didn't like them at all, they went back fast and another case of refurbs failing (connection between LR failed)
6. Lenovo lps1? lps1? A wildcard because they looked like the airpod pros and I wouldn't care if I lost them at $11 shipped. Ick sound on their own but actually takes an EQ well. Def. do not recommend them, just appreciate that I could try the airpod pro fit more or less without a big investment
7. airpod pro - on the way. I don't expect miracles, I don't really like the apple sound signature from what I've heard of it and with no real EQ I hesitate, but comfort's king
8. My walking around pair right now - Beats Flex. REALLY like them actually, and the sound isn't as bad as I remember beats being. Fan of the easy pairing too when switching between computers

(yes, my wife thinks i'm nuts for the buy/replace/buy process I've been going through)

Since I'm guessing the airpods won't give me that thump I'm looking for (I listen to all genres but rock, pop, and hip hop in particular) - do you recommend any sub $100 pairs that are the stem style?

You know I love music so this kept me up for days (I'm not doing much else, ha) and after spending over a grand on in ears I took pictures of my ears and my wife's normal ones (she has no problem with tws) and realized that my ears are deformed (maybe my fat face stretched my lobes)? My lobe is missing that ridge that would hold the fin/stabilizers on the stemless buds and my "ear hole" faces more down than to the size. So the worst fit are the ones that absolutely demand the ridge fin such as the bose soundsports I so wanted to love. I had the sen. momentums and the sound was absolutely glorious when they were jammed in with such force that my ears were still sore and ringing the next day. When they were just in there comfortably the sound was just ok. Was a bummer to send those back but the pain literally triggered migraines.

Thankfully a pair of $12 airpod pro knock offs fit awesomely. I didn't want to pay apple prices when I knew they weren't the best sounding set but the fit was so comfortable that I ordered a pair of the real deals. Hopefully they sound decent enough.

Also, after standing in line watching people returning garbage bags full of gifts I'm feeling a lot less guilty about my multiple in ears, though I do feel bad adding my ear wax to the mix - amazon should charge me a restocking fee just for my conscious!

Pics of wife's ears?
