I mean "Black" Africa (central-south excluding S. Africa I guess). It seems that not much progress has happened there. I don't mean industrilized as Europe, but more like South America I guess.

Most of Africa, it seems, is still too Politically unstable for such an occurance, but South Africa is partially Industrialized I believe. The sooner Africa gets Industrialized the better IMO, but you can't just start building Factories and what not in areas that fall into violent anarchy on a regular basis.

Too many people in high spots are taking advantage of the regions. Corruption, lack of orginization, lack of any kind of authority will make sure it'll be a long time until Africa is like the U.S. for example.

I'd be suprised if I lived to see it.

The 'problem' with Africa is that their societies were/are structured a lot differently than ours are, and so the introduction of the western way of life there has wreaked havoc. When you have a tribal society which is fairly antagonistic but the technology is somewhat primitive, you don't get widespread death and destruction. Add in the destructive tools of Western society (automatic weapons, tanks, explosives, etc.) and tribal wars become much uglier and more brutal.

Africa has to abandon the tribal structure and learn to work together. Unfortunate, but once the technology genie is out of the bottle, it's hard to put it back in.

I don't think so, with all the political turmoil/war going on, they have a few problems to solve first.

Whenever their virgins can live their lives without fear. :p This is in reference to that myth somebody noted in the AIDS thread.

More of an explanation than an excuse, IMO.

I think they should get some big-ass solar panels and hold a world LAN party in the Sahara.

Will Africa ever become industrialized?

Industrialized or not, Africa is a far superior country, from what I see on TV at least. In my country, it was industrialized, but noone wanted to work at factories, it's considered a very crappy occupation b/c of manual toil involved, and basically workers are very unhappy people who neither have any money nor free time. Now there is hardly any industry left and I tell you people have become happier. industry is a total crap unless you get paid some big @$$ money, and it just doesn't happen anywhere outside the Western world. Yep, they may not have any money and what they do is drinking their brains out, but they wouldn't have much either way they worked at a factory. They wouldn't get paid even $5 an hour, hardly $5 a day. And in Africa I think it's funny... There are bandits who would kill you for like $100, that's where all the fun begins. Gives you the chills, doesn't it? At it's warm all the time.

So to sum it up, I don't think industrialization is any good for any poor country. It won't make people live better, it will only cause more drunkards, dirt and unhappiness.

it depends what you think is little. $100K may seem a little to someone, but most criminals find it enough money to risk for.

As long as there are people in the Congo who say, "Who is Kafka? Tell me!" and "Stop eating my sesame cake!", industrialization will be a dream shattered in a hail of bullets and a river of blood.

First of all, Africa is not a country. There is no one central beliefs the whole Africa relies on. Asia has Confucious and buddhism, Europe has Christianity, Middle East has Islam.
Unless there's a magical way to unmix the different tribes and get rid of the country names drawn up by colonization.
The best way to solve the issue is let them duke'em out.
People are also forgetting the aids epidemic in Africa.

I'm sure the majority of people, especially in Japan, couldn't care less about sick people like Kafka was, but their industry is top-notch. Education has nothing to do with industry, nothing. You can either read crazy books by Kafka or build dams and factories, it would leave you no time for anything else. That's the way life is, man.
