Yeah I know that the 7700 fits, but I've heard something about the backplate of the 7000 interfereing with something and that the screws aren't long enough.

So, if you buy a 7000, you have to make sure it comes with a backplate, or what?

I don't think the 7000 series come with a backplate. The backplate is included when you buy a 939 mobo. I had the Asus A8V mobo before and the 7000 installed fine on it. No backplate issues. The backplate that came with the DFI NF4 Ultra was designed a little differently and that's where the problem arises. I wished I had a digital camera so I can post some pictures.

If you check 7000B-AlCu at http://www.zalman.co.kr/ you will find that it should come with a backplate. Also it shows there that install to socket socket 754/939/940 is done using this provided backplate. I've got this backplate in my package. I'm suprised your 7000 didn't include it.

So just to be sure..
You're saying you had these problems trying to install 7000 using DFI motherboard backplate - not Zalman backplate? And we are talking about the new DFI NF4 boards, right?
The other question still stands: Does backplate that comes with zalman interfere with sensitive board parts.. and what other problems come up if any? Anybody have 7000 installed using zalman backplate? Thanks.

I emailed Zalman support at support@zalmanusa.com explaining my situation and asked for a backplate. An hour later, I got a reply asking for my address so they can send me the backplate. Needless to say, I'm impressed.
Sleepyghost, you should try contacting them and get a new backplate.
