Just found out MS will not replace my Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 b/c it's over 3 years old. Thanks, Bill. :p

So, I want to buy a Logitech mouse (probably MX1000).

They are both wireless; will they interfere w/each other? I'd hate to conduct an "expensive experiment" you know?

I'd bet pennies to pounds they won't interfere at all. Is there not something on the bottom barcode/serial no/FCC Compliant sticker on the bottom that tells you what frequency it uses?

/flips MS KB&MS upside down

Nope. It's got part #'s and names, but no freq designation. I am not sure, but I'm thinking that since both the base station and keyboard have "connect" buttons on them, if there WAS interference, I could press the buttons and maybe it would switch to another channel...kinda like on cordless phones?

Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0

Microsoft also touts the new "smart" wireless receiver, which can hop between 65,000 identification codes to avoid cross-talk (interference with other wireless devices). The probability of cross-talk is actually quite low, since few devices use the 27 MHz frequency band.

From a review at http://www.insidemacgames.com/reviews/view.php?ID=470

If microsoft have managed to do something like that on one of their basic wireless mice, I would think Logitech would too (though it sounds as if only one device needs in, in order to "avoid" the more crude device).

Hope that helps.

Hmm. From what I've read, they both use the 27Mhz frequency, but it's more likely that they can use different channels from one another. If you're really worried you could get the G17 or another bluetooth or 2.4Ghz frequency mouse, I guess.
