Will a V3 2K offer increased gaming perf. over an Xpert 128?

I'm running a Cel266@400, 128MB RAM. Would a V3 2K (clocked to 3K levels, of course) offer increased game perf. in Q3, TFC, NFS? My Xpert 128 is averaging 10fps (!) in TFC on Warpath and Badlands at 640x480x16--will the V3 help me out?

This'll be a $40 addition to tide me over until this winter's crop o' cards. I want PCI so can still keep my ATi's excellent DVD (dual inputs on my DP900u). Will the two coexist, and will I be able to choose between the two when accelerating games?

Thanks.

Hope I can help, go for it man, with the 3dfx products dropping now because of all the rebates and stuff, it makes a $100 v3 2k go down to $40, it's well worth it, just a month ago, I bought a v3 3k for $149.99, then it went down to $129.99, then $99.99, then a rebate of $30, so I basically lost $80, but for the price they offer now, it's great.

YOu will get like 30fps in quake III from this upgrade, tell me how it goes, and where will you purchase it from?

I'm not a huge 3dfx fan but two of my friends have the 2k's, one can reach 195mhz and the other 185mhz(I diden't go higher, it might have more) I built both systems and I have to say for what they use them for and what I payed for them there not a bad buy.

yes, but you lose the 32bit color, the hardware IDCT for DVD, etc.

the 2 will not coexist as you think it would. you would need 2 hardware profiles to keep things running correctly.

Mday--that's my concern, whether or not they will coexist in my system. I'm OK with the V3 becoming the default card (as the PCI card does), as I'll probably use that for all my gameplaying (32-bit is of no use if I don't get playable framerates). I just want to be able to still use my ATi for DVD watching. Can anyone let me know if this is possible?

Did you see the review on the new Geforce 2 MX that will be retailing for $119 or less??? Wait a couple of weeks and get near Geforce DDR performance for CHEAP! The V3 2k is OK ( i have one ) and if you can get one dirtcheap go for it, it will improve TFC a LOT but nowhere near as much as the new GF 2 MX will.
