I have had DSL service through BellSouth for 14mos. In the last 2-weeks I frequently loose sync, have sync but loose internet connection, and download transmission rate fluctuates from 200 Kbps to 1.1Mbps (1.1 Mbps between the hours of 9pm. and 9am.).
BellSouth's technician has been out 3-times in past week. He tells me I'm at the max distance from the node and am on a noise profile, which limits my download rate to a max of 800 Kbps (so, why can I sometimes get 1.1 Mbps? - retoeical question).
He changed my whole-house filter on the incoming telephone line as well as some "card" at the "hut", which is about 4 miles away. I asked him why I'm having this problem now, after being on this service for over a year. He said there is some interference in the house and recommended a UPS to solve the problem.
It doesn't make sence to me. But' I'm willing to try anything.
Does anyone agree/disagree with BellSouth's recommendation on the USP? If a UPS will solve my problem, what minimum tech. specs. do I look for?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
