Will a slow-cooker (Crock Pot) be okay on "Low" overnight?

See topic title.

Wanna go out with friends, might end up crashing at another friend's place, just made the chili and it has to stay on for at least a couple hours.

It's a really basic slow cooker with just a "off, warm, low, high" dial.

Yea I do things like put it on, go to work, and 10 hours later it's perfect and my stew or other things are ready to eat when I get home. I guess if you really wanna be a g33k you SHOULD have supervision when any appliance is turned on because the risk of fire.

Just a note: a lot of newer crock pots raise the temp quite a bit more than "low" would indicate.

It should be fine..I think mine automatically goes to 'warm' after it has completed the time you set it for.

Not only is it fine to leave overnight on low...it also makes the flavors bloom better. Yummy

Eh, I usually only cook things for a few hours in them.

Chili & stews are usually much better when it cooked then put in the fridge overnight a few times so I usually don't leave things overnight.

Never use hamburger for chili.

Stew meat FTW. Sautee your onions & bell peppers in a skillet with a little oil. Throw in the stew meat and a shot of Jack Daniels until browned. Then put it in with the beans & other crap.

That's my camping chili recipe. Make a big pot one day, then have chili dogs the next day. And stay out of the tent!

Hamburger in chili is wrong.

Stew meat belongs in a stew......... w/potatoes, carrots, etc.
Just my preference to have hamburger in my chili.

Some people like Spaghetti without hamburger or some type of meat

yeah it will be ok on low. it shouldnt burn anything.

Just make sure you have extra liquid in it...that long and it will get pretty dry.
