... place a password or key combination so that it can not be played without the correct entry/keypresses? Are there any mods that will allow schedule based playtimes? While we're at it (and if the mods don't mind too much), what are some good ps2 modding forums you guys found?

In answer to your question (like nobody else has done): No mod chip that I'm aware of has that functionality... and I don't imagine that would be a very likely addition to any of the ones currently out there.

it's computer hardware

weren't they monitoring/restricting sales of this potential missile guidance technology model # ps2 when it first came out?

I think it had something to do with the emotion engine the PS2 uses... you could probably read up on it and figure out what they were so concerned about. I think was kinda silly myself... terrorists using Playstations... lol.

It doesn't matter, he was asking about a MODCHIP, which isn't computer hardware. Answer his question or don't post. Hijack another thread.

Whoa... what happened to my thread :(.

;) Shucks, I wanted a "lockout" feature. I haven't bought a PS2 yet (still looking for one and the person I PMed/emailed has chosen not to respond even after logging into AT) but wanted to see what I can and can't do with it. Uhh I guess you guys could go back to arguing in my thread.

I bet you could do something like this on the XBOX, since you usually replace the dashboard (basically the OS) of the xbox-- if there aren't any out there with passwords it might be doable.

I guess it's theoretically possible on a ps2 modchip, but it would involve putting the password straight into the BIOS, which I doubt is trivial (and it doesn't seem like something the modding community on the whole would have done already, since it's philosophy is more about breaking down protections).
