Will a pent 166 handle windows ME?

unfourtunely winME has a min,,, req of P120, 32mb of ram.. Now yes you will prolyy be able to run wnme but my god the resources will be drained..
It wouldnt be worth it...

Forget it...Win ME eats up damn near 128MB ram right off the bat. Win95/98 would be better.

Actually, from my experience, Windows 2000 will run better on a P166 than Win Me will! Of course, either one will suck without at least 64MB RAM...

I would go with (or stay with) Win 98 on that machine.

I ran my P166 mmx as a server to split my internet for 5 months, had no problems with it...went back to win98se b/c i preferred it over all os's at the time.

I recently built a Pentium 100mhz system out of well used parts for a friend. I put Win '95 OSR2 on it and was suprised at how fast it ran. The system had 48MB of RAM. If it were me, I'd go to somewhere like pricewatch.com and find a copy of win '95. (They usually go for around $30.) You might get Win ME to run on your kid's computer, but it's not gonna make him happy. ;)
