Will a MP 2000+ run same speed as XP 2000+?

I am thinking of building a new machine, but I am unsure of the difference between the MP and the XP. Can the MP run in single configuration? Will the MP run any faster than an XP at the same mhz? If it can, what makes the differnce in the speed?

I have an old P3Xeon... I liked the idea of having a more powerful processor. After all, it isnt just mHZ which makes the machine ;)

Thanks

MP and XP are the same core, expect the same performance per Rating.

XP's also run in MP boards, so you may want to save yourself money if going Dual. (Just do your research first so you know all the gotcha's).

Basically, don't buy an MP to run on a solo board, the extra cash just won't show over an identically clocked XP.

ditto. Save your money and buy an XP 2000+. You would see no difference between the two in a solo config.

I heard the Athlon MPs have unlocked multipliers. If this is true, it may be worth extra money. Personally, I would wait fot the Thoroughbred, which is due out any month now.

The MP's do not have their multipliers unlocked. However, they do not have the laser pit cut between the bridges thus making unlocking them just like the old T-birds which was much easier than the XP's.
