will a GeForce 256 32meg outperform my voodoo 3 3000?

Depends on your CPU as well..... if you're running anything faster than a P2-450 or so (a Duron, Celeron2 566 or better, Thunderbird, P3) then yes, the Geforce series like the MX or DDR will be a noticable improvement. On a P2-450 or K6-2 chip, no- the difference is negligible. Get a CPU upgrade first. The V3 is still a very nice card.

...unless you only play Unreal Tournament and other Glide-optimized games at low resolution. At those settings the Voodoo 3 3000 can be as fast or faster than a Geforce or even a Geforce 2.
 
I still think the lot of you are neglecting the CPU issue. Wit ha slower CPU it won't be a CRUSHING difference! Sure I got a higher score on 3DMark 2000, but I didn't see THAT much increase on my Cel450A going from a V3-3500 to a Geforce DDR. A bit, but not THAT much.
If you have less than 500mhz for a K6-2 chip, concentrate on a CPU upgrade first.
 
Hmm....looks pretty unanimous 🙂 Think of it this way, the V5 was supposed to compete with the GeForce, so I'd say the GF had better beat the V3 🙂
