Will a dual cpu Xeon workstation play games alright?

I am thinking of getting a dual cpu workstation next year for rendering and hd editing. What I want to know is, will it run games fine of it?

It will run games like any other CPU at that speed. It might be a tad slower than regular desktop CPUs depending on the speed.

The video card is the key after that you most likely won't see any games running on more then about 3 or 4 threads. So while the game will run just fine on an Intel® Xeon® processor it will end up being a poor investment since you most likely won't use the full features of the processors.

if its not AMD it will..

OKOK... that was a joke so please dont flame me...

multi socketed cpu's are at the mercy of the operating system.
Will it play games well? that is all down to what type of OS you lay down on a machine like that.

Personally u dont game on a render machine, because a render machine should only be rendering.
Your much better off getting a secondary machine and KVMing, or even Remoting from the second machine to the render machine for work jobs.

But as many said it will play games fine, as long as your gpu can handle the game.

this will also highly depend on how well the game is multi threaded, and how well the OS can optimize use of threads.
