will a 2gb single stick of DDR2 memory hurt windows home server performance?

The title says it all. I'm assembling a home server PC that will use Windows Home Server. Fry's store special this week has an AMD 4850e CPU and Asus M3A76-CM motherboard for $100. The mb has integrated video, with shipping I'd pay $56 for the cpu and about $70 for the mb at Newegg.

They also have a single 2gb stick of Crucial-2GB-DDR2-PC6400-Memory for $20. The three sound perfect for a home server at a nice price. Single stick of memory is not as good as two matched sticks, right? But will that make a significant impact on server performance?

Unless you are doing things like ripping DVDs on it, 2 GB should be plenty. I have about six WHS servers that I manage, all with 512 MB of memory, and they fulfill their primary functions (backups and shared data storage) just fine.

My single stick of 2gb on my WHS is overkill. It was spare ram I had leftover. If I was building a new WHS box and buying ram, I'd probably buy a 2gb stick anyways because it's so cheap. Using dual channels for WHS isn't necessary imo.

Thanks, I'm going to buy them tonight along with WHS software. I'm thinking of an Antec 300 case and an 80+ power supply, probably Seasonic 330W. Newegg has WD 1 tb drives right now for $95 and free shipping.
