Will 8800GTS/X function in PCI-E 8X Slot?

The title says it all really, will a single (NOT SLI) nVidia GeForce 8800GTS/X function properly in a PCI-E 8X slot or does it require a 16x slot?

like almost all PCI-E video cards, it requires a physical 16x slot but it can function in a slot that only has 8 lanes available.

What he said, you need PEG (PCI-Express for Graphics) slot, whether it has 16 or 8 lanes does not affect the functionality, but maybe performance(?).

Thanks guys, for some reason I thought my board only had an 8x slot... it is in-fact 16x. I had a dumb moment obviously! I would not be running SLI, so it would not be a problem!

From the AT reviews, x8 SLI had little to no performance penatly compared to x16 SLI. I doubt single-card scores would be much different.
