I just ordered a minimally speced Lenovo P1 Gen 3 Thinkpad that comes with a 8GB stick of 2933 MB/s DDR4 RAM. The page for the machine says:
Up to 2933 MT/s
i.e. here:
thinkstation-specs.com
Now, the machine won't ship until around Nov. 16 at the earliest. I'm typing right now on my Lenovo P1 Gen 1 Thinkpad, so 2 generations previous and an hour ago I downloaded and ran Crucial's system evaluation utility and it indicates I can buy and use their 3200 MB/s DDR sticks, e.g. this:
www.newegg.com
So, am I to believe that the machine I just ordered (being an upgrade of this machine) will run that 3200 MB/s RAM just fine? Logic says so, but why does Lenovo say it only supports 2933 MT/s? Thing is, I'm not seeing much 2933 MB/s RAM for sale. Thanks for guidance!
