Will 3200 MB/s DDR4 work in a laptop that supports 2933 MB/s?

I just ordered a minimally speced Lenovo P1 Gen 3 Thinkpad that comes with a 8GB stick of 2933 MB/s DDR4 RAM. The page for the machine says:

Up to 2933 MT/s

i.e. here:

Now, the machine won't ship until around Nov. 16 at the earliest. I'm typing right now on my Lenovo P1 Gen 1 Thinkpad, so 2 generations previous and an hour ago I downloaded and ran Crucial's system evaluation utility and it indicates I can buy and use their 3200 MB/s DDR sticks, e.g. this:

So, am I to believe that the machine I just ordered (being an upgrade of this machine) will run that 3200 MB/s RAM just fine? Logic says so, but why does Lenovo say it only supports 2933 MT/s? Thing is, I'm not seeing much 2933 MB/s RAM for sale. Thanks for guidance!

Yes, will work. RAM modules support many JEDEC profiles for different standard frequencies.

Should be fine. The speed may downclock, but the crucial kit should still work.

Thanks. I wonder if I can determine if it downclocks. I did order the pair today from Newegg along with a SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3. X4, NVMe 1.3 64L V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7E1T0BW. Would have had to pay around $450 more to get those by customizing my purchase when I ordered, and this way I have an extra SSD and RAM stick!

I think I saw somewhere that the Lenovo P1 Gen 3 will support 3200 MT/s DDR4, just don't know... at Lenovo's site it says 2933.

You can see the RAM speed in the BIOS, within the Windows Task Manager, or utilities such as CPU-Z.
