Will 2-3 D-Con type mice poison bait blocks kill a dog?

I've got mouse problems, so I set a few dcon-type bait blocks outside around the house. The mice are living in our landscaping. Anyway, I heard some digging around out there today and sure enough there was a dog out there poking around in the landscaping. I scared it off but took a look around after and a few of the blocks are completely gone now.

The dog was pretty big (a lab maybe) and I'm thinking it was a neighbors from down the street.

Am I going to have this dog's life weighing on my conscience?

if it's a neighbor's dog, I don't know why you would feel bad

the neighbor is the one letting their dog run around

It might. In my experience the poison that's designed for mice won't even kill large rats though, so there's a good chance he'll survive if he ate some.

If he ate enough of it, it will definately kill him.

How much poison is in a "block" of D-Con and what is the active chemical?

bait poisons need to be placed where the things you don't want to kill can't be baited.

What's your problem. The neighbor let a large dog roam the neighborhood, digging in other people's yard. The owner of the dog is definitely at fault if the dog eats something it shouldn't.

The owners are wrong, I agree. But the dog is innocent and doesn't deserve to die.

Prepare for small claims court.

When I was a kid our neighbor sued us because they said our dog would not stop barking and gave thier $6000 poodle cancer from stress.

The evidence was them standing on the side of our house with a video camera video taping the dog.

What this has to due with the OP, I have no idea. Oh yea, prepare to get sued.

Is he liable for the dog's death?

It seems to me the only injustice is that a neighbors dog ate some of his property.

What the fuck is wrong with you? The dog doesn't deserve to die because it's owner is a dipshit. Jesus christ.

It was actually these: http://www.amazon.com/Motomco-...&qid=1240001360&sr=8-1

Looks like the active ingredient is Bromadiolone

If you want a real answer, call poison control in your area and ask. I'm pretty sure that will kill a dog, though.

I think most people aren't saying the dog deserves to die. It's just not the OP's fault if it dies.

Feeling bad about the dog dying is not the same as feeling responsible for the death.

Was this near your air conditioning unit? The mice could've popped out and consumed the baiters before Rover came along sniffing and drooling. In this case he'd be fine. ;)

Why don't you just knock on their door and say their dog dug up some rat poison in your yard, you'd suggest they take it to a vet?

I find it amusing that the same e-thugs who laugh over human deaths as winning the Darwin award get their panties in a bunch over a similar thing happening to a dog.

If you're going to be mean, at least be consistent.

Agreed. It's a f---ing shame if the dog dies, but the OP would be in no way responsible.

But then the dog's owner(s) would know why it got sick!

Because in this litigious world he'll get sued no matter what happens to the dog.

Don't forget they make jokes about people who die, when it wasn't even their fault.

"a safe fell on a lady and killed her... HA HA I guess nobody is SAFE anymore HA HA!"

but an Animal dying, no joking about that..
