From 3AM on Wednesday November 25, 2009, until 3AM the following day (US east coast time), WikiLeaks will release over half a million US national text pager intercepts.

The intercepts cover a 24 hour period surrounding the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington.

To foster a deeper understanding, the messages will be released to the global community "live". That is, the first message, corresponding to 3AM September 11, 2001, five hours before the first attack, will be released at 3AM November 25, 2009 and the last, corresponding to 3AM September 12, 2001 at 3AM November 26, 2009.

This is an incredibly interesting read. As I recall, I was in class that morning, completely unaware of what was happening (oh, life before iPhone) until a friend stopped me on the street and told me that both towers were down. I don't think I responded--it was so absurd.

Later that day, I read the SomethingAwful forum thread that unraveled like a thought in anyone's mind that day... Is it an accident? Is this deliberate? Oh my God, the building just collapsed...

These files are a transcript of a national nightmare, and I suggest checking them out.

The other curiosity is how Wikileaks obtained the data. Anyone here have some of their pages on that list? :awe:
