Wiikey $11 Shipped

I've done the soldering on a couple wiikeys now. It's not that hard. You've got 3 points that can be some trouble but other than that it is easy and can be done by a novice. 11 bucks is dirt cheap and the ad looks legit enough. In for 5

Yeah it looks legit... it's exactly what the circuit city product page looks like. I mean look at this:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Apple-1G...atOid/-12952/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

And then look at the link in the OP. Legit places rarely copy well known sites

Site claims it's an original, but I don't know. But I figure, for $11, it's worth a shot.

It's not the same thing as buying other stuff cheap and you just get rid of it. If this thing is faulty it'll take your entire console down. If it's an original than great deal, but I'm really skeptical about why it'd be so cheap.

It shouldn't mess up the console. If it doesn't work, you can simply remove it.

umm.. why do I get the feeling it's fake? They normally run $40+ don't they?

Yea, they're probably fakes, but even at $11 it's a good deal.

As already said before... compare the LAYOUTS of CC and this page and they're damn near identical. How do you get your pants on in the morning? All by yourself... it's remarkable

Tard, he was comparing sites, not products... where is that coffee? 😀
They're templates, I've seen it before with many known mass merchants.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does this do?

I bought a wii on launch day, and wish to know what this does, and currently do not have time to research it. Thanks.

If you clicked the product page it tells you exactly what it does.

From a manufacturing point-of-view, this thing is dirt-cheap to make.
That little 8-bit microcontroller costs about $3. You buy a Wiikey from
your competition, and copy his code. That little tiny PCB (printed circuit
board) is about 50 cents. Throw in the the flashing of the micro, and cost
to assemble the thing, it costs $5 tops to make this item, probably closer to $4.
No doubt they are assembled in China.

It costs a lot more to make an all-in-one remote, and I can buy those at the
dollar store now.

No one is losing any money at $11.

Lets you play backups of your already purchased games. I've got a 1 and 2 year old who trashed the wii sports DVD already so this is something I highly recommend.

If you want to backup your current wii games you will need a specific DVD-ROM LG-something, google it and you will find it. Newegg sells them for less than 20 bucks. You can use it to launch non region specific titles as well as homebrew games. I wont get into the piracy aspects of this chip because well, it is illegal lest we forget.
