I could get both but i dont want 2 consoles. Which ones my best bet? Havent owned a console since playstation 1.

From what i can tell:

Xbox360
1. Online play BUT i have to pay for it
2. Better graphics, i dont care as i still like playing genesis games as much as modern ones. Sonic 2 rocks :)
3. Outta stuff to put down :(

Wii
1. Its cheap and fun! I dunno thats the marketing talking, whats good about the wii? tell me!!

I have xmas is coming and i want a console again. Whats best?

As much as the Wii looks like a lot of fun, it's going to be a hard sell after seeing titles like GOW on the 360 in HD.

Does the Wii at least do 480p?

So what camp should i join? Im leaning towards 360 since microsofts got the funds to get all the really good titles on their console, plus its not as expensive as the ps3, and the games look/seem fun.

Get a Playstation 2 and the Wii. It'll cost you the same as one Xbox 360 and your game library will be approaching infinity.

If you aren't a PC gamer and have no interest in Nintendo games, then choose the 360.

If you have a limited buget or like nintedo game or the prospect of the Wiimote, choose the Wii.

thats tough, while you do pay for online for the 360, you dont have too unless you want to play the games online....If you only want to access the online content, you simply get a silver account, and you are in. Keep in mind you can't play Gears of War online (which you are missing out if thats the case) but you can still download demos, and arcade games.

With the Wii, it will also use the internet in a new way, they have the Wii channels in which you can buy old nes, snes, n64, genesis, and turbografx roms to run. They are talking a price point of around 5 dollars a game, which really is not too bad at all. But you will most likely need to buy an additional controller aside from using the Wii remote.

Any way you slice it, there are going to be additional costs so be expecting that. Look at it this way, do you have an HD TV?? If not, do you plan to get one in the near future?(I am talking 2 to 3 years) If you said no to either of those questions then it does not pay to get a 360. You just can't enjoy the 360 fully unless you have an HD tv. That or if you plan to get the vga cable, but who wants to play a 360 on a little 19in screen anyway? Just some stuff to think about.

Get a PSP and put a Genesis emulator on it so you can take Sonic wherever you go!

I would say that if you are a big gamer interested in PC games then you should get a X360.

I'm certain Nintendo will find it's niche this gen as being the 'must have second console' but I don't think the Wii is ready to be the hardcore gamers first console purchase. Granted I'm sure there are plenty of you out there who think so and plan to buy accordingly but realize that you're a very small percentage of the population.

xbox360 = a bit more expensive (if you go with the premium pack which i definitely recommend over the core), 720p/1080i/1080p support, hd-dvd addon, gears of war, xbox live, xbox live arcade (old school games), halo 1/2/3, 1 year headstart over ps3 and wii, has microsoft to back it up/lots of money, etc.

wii = completely new control scheme, zelda (huge selling point IMO even if its just the gamecube version with 480p, 16:9), virtual console/ability to purchase and download past games from nes, snes, genesis, n64, relatively inexpensive compared to 360 and PS3, plays gamecube games right out of the box, has ports for gamecube controllers and memory cards.

i'd say wii if you liked the games on nintendo more, want to try something totally new (controls), play zelda and old games, and dont want to pay that much, but then again, you can get a core xbox360 and pay 50 bucks more. you lose wireless (you can still use wireless controllers, theres no wi-fi for internet), the hard drive, and the component cables.

Microsoft has deep pockets, but after they lost a few billion on the first Xbox I *think* they want to make a profit this time around. Or at least break even. And they're selling the system for a loss...

Developers will develop for the systems that will get them the most sales. If you're worried about what upcoming games will be available for each system, wait at least a month or two to see how well the Wii takes off. So far it looks like it's getting a lot more third party support than the Gamecube.
