Wii Virtual Console

I plan on getting the Wii classic controller and LAN adapter so I can download and play some of the fun SNES and Genesis games.

Here is what I plan on getting:
Golden Axe 1/2
Gunstar Heroes
Zelda: A Link to the Past
BoF2

What games have you gotten or will get?

I went to IGN and read the rewview list of all the games available for the wii. It seemed nearly half of the games were listed as virtual console games. That means nearly half were not games written expressly for the wii but are warmed over or not warmed over games for other consoles.

It seemed a bit disingenuous to pad the list with virtual console games as most lists are usually for dedicated games.

I guess one of the advantages is you don't have to have a bunch of old consoles laying around and you can still play some old titles.

the classic controller is cool. here's what i got off of the VC:
-Contra III Alien Wars
- Castlevania I
-Bonks Adventure
-Super Ghouls and Ghosts

Planning on picking up Zelda LttP and Super Metroid as well

I have:

Super Mario World
Donkey Kong (aw yeah NES)
Donkey Kong Country
Gradius III (f'ing game is so hard but it rules)

Super Metroid is definitely a good pick.

Yeah, I don't know why they do that. VC, XBLA, and PSN games should be kept separate from Wii, Xbox and PS3 games.

Gamespot has a separate list of reviews for Wii and VC games. Only problem is that the VC games end up on the Wii review list as well 😕

I got Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Supper Mario Brothers, and Zelda 1. I am thinking about getting the other Zelda games too.

Since Golden Axe 1 and 2 are almost the same, which one should I buy?

i had a blast with 1...wasn't too thrilled with 2. i hear they're doing a remake for Golden Axe 1 on the PS3 soon

Side question: where can I find the official LAN adapter for the Wii other than Nintendos website? Gamestop.com and Amazon seem to have other brands but not the official one

How are these virtual console game packaged? I've looked at Wii titles in stores but so far haven't noticed these.

They're downloads. You purchase them through the Wii store, download them to the Wii and play them.
