Link - Some time next year, Nintendo is going to start offering a video distribution service in Japan. They are teaming up with a company called Dentsu to offer this service. The twist in this is, unlike MS and Sony, the programming is supposed to be all original programming created for the service. This will typically be cartoons and other family friendly shows.
I'm actually interested to see what kind of programming they can come up with for this. Sounds like they are using this as a testbed before determining if they want to bring this to other markets.
And speaking of testbeds...Japanese Wii owners will be able to order food through their Wii starting in the Spring. Link. Pizza, sushi, chinese food, japanese food, western, etc are all on the menu.
I don't see the food part coming to North America. Mainly because most delivery places outside of pizza has never really taken off. We just don't have the density for this to work outside of a couple of major cities like NYC.
