The Wii fit is a hot item, I expect it is, and will be, developed for by 3rd parties too. So, give it time, and you will likely see software similar to what you desire become available for it.

I believe I read about a month ago that a workout game which is focused more on Western Style exercises is being developed or is at least in the planning stages for development. There was a thread posted here about it at one point.

Does it involve watching sports and drinking ?

"This is what we call the 12oz curl drill. See how many of these you can do while standing on the board with one foot in the air."

I lost a ton of weight doing only body weight exercises and cardio. To be exact, going to a Brazilian jiu-jitsu class for a few months. We would do lunges, sprawls, crunches, jogging, pushups, stretching, and of course the movements related to the art itself and sparing (great cardio/strength workout). You would be amazed how cut you can get from just body weight exercises. Right now I'm working on getting better at head stand pushups. I can only do 10 at at time. I want to get it up to 20 or 30 a set.

Apparently you didn't have the board level. It's either that, or you live in the tower of Piza.

Only you know for sure.:p

Grappling and all the drills and exercises that go along with it is a MAJOR workout. Even 10 headstand pushups is pretty impressive so far as I'm concerned... I've never been able to do them, even when I was an indestructable teenager with energy to spare.

You'll never get that kind of workout from a video game... and that isn't dogging on WiiFit, it's just fact :)

Thanks for the link. As they stated, unsurprising.

My own anecdotal commentary, is that you don't even need the Wii Fit to get a good workout. My wife and kid get into the sports so much that they are whipped by the time we are finished.

If I box my boy, he gives it everything he's got, and flurries out a whole three round throwdown. The Mrs. and I are old tennis rivals, and she practically tries to run down shots when we play.

I don't see why not, the video game just replaces the instructor. If an instructor can inspire you to work really hard, so can a video game. It hasn't happened yet and that is a shame, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

In fact, if I developed games, I'd consider it a pretty good challenge to throw the gauntlet down on that one. Wish I hadn't failed out of CS......

The only major negative factor is that most game consoles are not setup in a room that would be considered a good environment for working out. Unless you've got it setup in your basement.

Step 1: Burn calories by searching the stores for Wii Fit.
Step 2: Burn more calories jumping for joy after finally finding one.

I'm supposed to get mine in the mail Friday.

I already have We Ski ready to go and am looking forward to giving the whole thing a try.

I mostly got it for the wife, but should still be fun nonetheless.

Received mine today. It's actually quite a decent workout, which left me with a nice little sweat goin'

However, I wish there were some preset workout routines. Any ideas on some sites to check out for workout regiments?

GF got hers the other day, for people to say it's for fun and not to seriously get in shape, I'm 33 and out of shape, I did 20 minutes. Running, pushups, step dance thingy and a few other events and I was sweating pretty good and very tired. The long run is either very hard or I'm just that out of shape. I'm sure it's more the 2nd, but it was long :) I'd safely say if I repeated this every day for a month I would be in better shape, if I did it for a 6 months I'd be in great shape.

It weighed me in @ 202lbs, I told it my target weight was 210 (seriously) and it accept a higher BMI as my goal. I now have 2 months to put on 8lbs, wish me luck y'all I have a problem putting on weight but I'm going to try my hardest to reach my goal.

I don't know my exact height I would estimate 5'10, I put 5'10 and Wiifit said I was overweight, if I hit 210 according to it I would level up to Obese. I will reach my goal thanks to Wiifit, I actually ate a huge Steak Salad with cheese + Crutons + tons of dressing. Then got back on the Wiifit and it claimed I was 1.1lbs heaver than my first weigh in, which was like 4 hours before the salad. I gergouged for breakfast and put on another .5 when I did a 3rd weigh in, but I'm sure after sweating in the heat and crapping most of that new weight was lost :( I just can't bulk up, not even when I tried eating 4k Calories day for a month, my body sucks...

lol, hilarious.

Wiifit said it's good for me to set a goal and try to achieve it, maybe I can unlock an event that involves me strapping the Wiimote to a big ass spoon and eating a bowl of ice cream with it. I'm not exactly sure how a product with "fit" in the name is supposed to help me reach a goal that involves me putting on weight. On a sad note I'm down to 201 :(
